On behalf of the PYRAMID PLAYERS, we would like to welcome you to our third decade! Try to remember or imagine a close friend and what they looked like 30 years ago. (Remember, if they are college-age or younger, they hadn't even been born!) That's to let you see how many years we've been doing what we do. When we graduated from Benton High School (Benton, Illinois) in the mid 70's, there were NO community theatre groups in Southern Illinois. If you wanted to see a Broadway show, you had 3 choices: 1) go to New York, 2) go to St. Louis,3) go to SIU.So, we decided, then and there, that we would return to Southern Illinois after college and create an opportunity for those students and adults interested in theatre, and especially musical theatre to be able to perform in quality productions. Since that time, we have gotten married, had children and, during our summers, produced nearly 60 Broadway shows. Our name and reputation has continued to grow. After nearly two decades, when people in Southern Illinois see the name PYRAMID PLAYERS, many of them associate it with theatre.
We hope our audiences have enjoyed coming to see our shows throughout the years as much as we have enjoyed presenting them. We have tried to present a variety of shows - something for everyone. Maybe you may remember attending or performing in one of our past shows. Many of our young proteges have gone on to major in the performing arts in college and then to pursue careers in the field. This is the highest compliment we could ever ask for. Thanks again for visiting our web site or having attended one of our productions. We hope you'll tell your friends about us and encourage them to drop in next year for our exciting 36th season!
